Banque de France sheds light on the role of green bonds in financing the ecological transition

In an educational fact sheet published this week in partnership with the French Ministry of Energy Transition, the Banque de France highlights the central role of green bonds in financing environmental projects.

These debt securities, issued by companies, local authorities or governments, are distinguished from conventional bonds by the dedicated use of funds: combating climate change, preserving biodiversity or developing clean transport.

The Banque de France underscores the spectacular growth of this market, whose worldwide outstandings will exceed $3,000 billion by the end of 2024. In France, green OATs issued by Agence France Trésor have raised €76 billion. These bonds are subject to stricter transparency requirements, to combat the risk of greenwashing. For the Banque de France, they represent a major tool for sustainable finance in support of the low-carbon transition.

Life insurance: net inflows of 4 billion euros by March 2025

In a press release published on April 30, 2025France Assureurs announces net life insurance inflows of 4 billion euros for the month of March alone, a fifteen-year high for the month of March.

Premiums reached 15.5 billion euros, driven by strong growth in unit-linked products (+8%). PER assurantiel also recorded strong growth, with net inflows up 15% year-on-year.

Death insurance fraud: father in custody

A 60-year-old man has been taken into custody after he and his family faked several deaths in order to collect insurance policies worth an estimated 1.4 million euros.

The scamcarried out between 2023 and 2025 in the Val-de-Marne, would have enabled the family to obtain 380,000 euros before being unmasked. Anomalies on death certificates alerted several companies. An investigation led to the arrest of the main suspect and his two sons. The trial is scheduled for May for the father and September for his children.

The AMF posts the videos of the 25th RCCI and RCSI Day online

The AMF has posted the videos of the 25th Training Day for Compliance Officers (RCCI) and Internal Control Officers (RCSI), held on March 17, 2025.

The morning session provided an opportunity to review supervision priorities, the 2024 jurisprudence of the Enforcement Committee, and the latest regulatory developments. Among the workshops offered, one focused on the quality of reporting data, a key issue in ensuring effective and reliable market supervision. All presentations are now available on the AMF website.
